Q: How powerful does the air conditioner need to be to supply enough cold air to the place I want to air condition?
A: The power of an air conditioner is measured in BTU's. The following is a chart explaining how many BTU's are required for the room needed to be air conditioned. The amount of BTU's recommended varies depending on the structure of the room, items in the room that may cause heat, sunlight, and quantity of people in the room at the same time.

Q: My central air conditioner does not work, what do I do?
A: There are several things you can do to check the system yourself.
1. Check and reset the breaker related to the central air conditioning system in the main electrical panel as well as the disconnect box often located near the furnace.
2. Make sure that the thermostat is positioned on "cool".
3. Lower the thermostat at least 3 degrees below room temperature.
4. Make sure that the system air filters are clean. If they are dirty, the filters may need to be changed.
5. Check the ventilation outlets to make sure that the air coming out feels cooler then the room temperature.
6. If the system is still not functional, contact your KLIMFAX technician for an appointment.
Q: My thermo-pump does not work, what do I do?
A: There are several things you can do to check the system yourself.
1. Check and reset the breaker related to the thermo-pump system in the main electrical panel as well as the disconnect box often located near the furnace.
2. Make sure that the thermostat is positioned on "heat".
3. Raise the thermostat at least 2 degrees above room temperature.
4. Make sure that the system air filters are clean. If they are dirty, the filters may need to be changed.
5. Check the ventilation outlets to make sure that the air coming out feels warmer then the room temperature.
6. If the system is still not functional, contact your KLIMFAX technician for an appointment.
Q: My oil furnace does not work, what do I do?
A: There are several things you can do to check the system yourself.
1. Check and reset the breaker related to the oil furnace system in the main electrical panel as well as the disconnect box often located near the furnace.
2. Make sure that the thermostat is positioned on "emergency heat" if this is an option on your thermostat.
3. Raise the thermostat at least 5 degrees above room temperature.
4. Make sure that the system air filters are clean. If they are dirty, the filters may need to be changed.
5. Check the oil level of the oil tank.
6. Make sure to press only once on the reset button of the oil burner.
7. Check the ventilation outlets to make sure that the air coming out feels warmer then the room temperature.
8. If the system is still not functional, contact your KLIMFAX technician for an appointment.
Q: My propane or natural gas furnace does not work, what do I do?
A: There are several things you can do to check the system yourself.
1. Check and reset the breaker related to the oil furnace system for 30 seconds in the main electrical panel as well as the disconnect box often located near the furnace.
2. Make sure that the thermostat is positioned on "emergency heat" if this is an option on your thermostat.
3. Raise the thermostat at least 5 degrees above room temperature.
4. Make sure that the system air filters are clean. If they are dirty, the filters may need to be changed.
5. Check the propane level of the reservoir.
6. Check the ventilation outlets to make sure that the air coming out feels warmer then the room temperature.
7. If the system is still not functional, contact your KLIMFAX technician for an appointment.
Q: There is ice accumulating on my system, what do I do?
A: There are several things you can do to check the system yourself.
1. Check your thermostat to make sure that it is not below 72 degrees F / 21 degrees C.
2. Make sure that the system air filters are clean. If they are dirty, the filters may need to be changed.
3. If the system is still developing ice, contact your KLIMFAX technician for an appointment.
Q: There seems to be a lot of condensation on the outdoor unit. Is this normal?
A: This is very normal especially when the outdoor humidity is elevated.
Q: Water is leaking out of my indoor central system. What do I do?
A: There are several things you can do to check the system yourself.
1. Check your thermostat to make sure that it is not below 72 degrees F / 21 degrees C.
2. Make sure that the system air filters are clean. If they are dirty, the filters may need to be changed.
3. If the system leaking, contact your KLIMFAX technician for an appointment.
Q: My system does not seem to supply enough cool air. What do I do?
A: There are several things you can do to check the system yourself.
1. Check the temperature of the air coming directly out of the vent. There air supply should feel obviously cooler then room temperature.
2. Make sure that the system air filters are clean. If they are dirty, the filters may need to be changed.
3. If the system does not produce any cooling, contact your KLIMFAX technician for an appointment.
Q: The interior unit of my mono-split system is leaking inside, what do I do?
A: There are several things you can do to check the system yourself.
1. Check the thermostat temperature to make sure that it is not below 21 C /72 F.
2. Make sure that the system air filters are clean.
3. The drain may be blocked. Check the interior units drain to make sure it flows properly.
4. If the system is still leaking inside, contact your KLIMFAX technician for an appointment.
